Trent Alexander-Arnold has given his Man City side a huge boost and says they are the biggest game of the season. “A special game between two of the greatest teams in the world,” explains the Manchester City winger.
The Manchester City youngster impressed with the City XI at the City of Manchester Stadium, but it wasn’t his strongest performance of the season.
“It was a great experience,” he says. “It’s no secret that I’m a young player and it’s always nice to watch a young man playing in the Premier League.
“It was a really exciting and intense game, both technically and tactically.
“Both teams are extremely tactically prepared too, and are very well organised and very fast.
“It was the perfect way to get myself ready for the World Cup in Brazil.
“We played the new system, which is an entirely different style of play to what I’m used to.
“The game was intense, and for City, it felt like an emotional game. It was a privilege to play in the City XI.
“The new system was challenging. We didn’t know if we were going to be able to keep it, or if we were going to break it.
“It was a real intense two hours, but we had to stay together and help each other.
“I was pleased with how a lot of the City players were helping me out.”
The City forward had a couple of great games in the side, but he struggled at the Manchester United game when Jadon Sancho started from the bench.
“I was just trying to learn the new system,” he explains. “Sometimes, you have to wait for the opponent to make mistakes to get the chance to really go forward, but at United it was very different to how it is at City.
“I got sent off. I was really disappointed with myself. It was a difficult game against United.
