Trump’s critics threaten journalists with murder

Death threats. Racist taunts. Vows of violence. Inside the increasingly personal attacks targeting Canadian female journalists that have followed the publication of a book and the release of interviews she gave as part of a documentary project with ex-president of Iraq Hans Blix, Marjane Satrapi has endured a barrage of threats, including from the White House.

A month ago, Mr. Trump referred to Ms. Satrapi as “a vicious person.” “When she gets into trouble, she gets into trouble. And when she gets into trouble, she gets into prison,” he said at the time. On Tuesday, the White House press secretary said she would not be making a statement following the publication of a new book about Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign.

The publisher of the book refused to give the statement to The Washington Times and then sent the book to a White House spokesman. The statement was not made public by the White House or made available to journalists.

Ms. Gordon said she did not speak to the White House about her experience, but added: “On the whole, I’m disappointed with the way we’ve treated journalists. They’ve been treated with a disregard. I think it’s important that we treat them with respect. The media is not trying to assassinate President Trump or anyone.”
