Lana Del Rey says L.A. thief stole laptop with unreleased music: ‘Please don’t listen’

The superstar tweeted late Thursday night, saying, “I am so sorry to anyone who has ever had anything to do with the thieves from my laptop. Please don’t listen to my music or hear anything I’m saying on the Internet. Everything is legit.”

A representative for Lana Del Rey tells PEOPLE they are aware of the stolen laptop and have been in touch with their client. The representative spoke to PEOPLE on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation.

Lana Del Rey says she has removed all of her social media accounts and has instructed fans on how to interact and respond to her comments, “everything is legit.”

The incident is the latest in a string of issues Del Rey has had with her fans, including an on-set altercation that resulted with two fans being arrested and a photo-sharing controversy after which YouTube suspended the star’s personal account.

Del Rey, born in Las Vegas, says she discovered several weeks ago that a private investigator working for her was working for another celebrity. “The investigator took more than a thousand hours of video and still takes more than a thousand hours to download and edit it,” she wrote.

“And what that will produce is to show it to the music industry and everybody else who’s not the investigator that it’s a total lie and they’re not getting paid nothing, how the hell? That’s what the investigator was asking me for, so he can show it to the music industry and everybody else to show everybody it’s a lie. And it is a lie, he knows it’s a lie he was just trying to get money out of me by showing the whole lie on the Internet…
